All my services are drawn from a

Trauma & Multicultural

framework

Why does being trauma- and multiculturally-informed matter?

Research suggests that all clients, regardless of identities, can benefit from multiculturally competent care. I believe that all people can similarly benefit from trauma-informed care, whether they are survivors themselves or not.

By drawing from this framework, I aim to co-create a container of safety that encourages the practice of courage and vulnerability. Growth happens when we become uncomfortable, but not when we feel unsafe. Safety is a priority in all the work I do.

Coaching

I help people from all walks of life move towards the version of themselves they desire to be. I support survivors, mental health professionals, entrepreneurs, and all those in between. Whether it’s preparing for a career change, navigating the impacts of relational violence (e.g., codependency), applying to graduate school, building relationships, exploring spirituality, or just fostering insight - I would love to join you in your journey.

Kabita Chhetri, BS (she/her)| Prospective Graduate Student

“Amira has been my mentor for over a year now, and in this period, I have grown a lot in many perspectives. She has been guiding me in preparing myself to be a research professional and a prospective graduate student through many different academic experiences I did not know were possible. I love working with Amira because she is open to my educational, professional, and personal advances and is always ready to help me with any task. I can always talk to Amira about anything and everything, as she is a person who looks out for those in need. I have always felt motivated and supportive of everything I discussed with Amira. She is hardworking, knowledgeable, considerate, helpful, and an amazing human being, and I am blessed to have a mentor like Amira.”

Beit Gorski, MA, LPC (xe/xem) | Senior Staff, IPV Embedded Counselor, Trauma Specialist for the Pride Resource Center

“She is a real person with a presence that emits a pervasive kindness and deep authenticity. In Amira’s presence, there is an atmosphere of nurturance and respect that beats with the rhythm of the human heart. With her brilliance sense of humor and gentle firmness, she fosters an openness in the hearts of those who come into contact with her. She has a sort of magical way of engaging people, holding their vulnerability with tenderness and care while making the abstract relevant and providing practical and effective advocacy and supports. To sum it all up in a word, I’m confident her clients and peers would agree with me when I assert that working with Amira has been life changing. Transformative, indeed.”

Alexander Becraft, MBC (he/him)| CEO of WeBeWell

“Amira Trevino is one of the most incredible colleagues, and human beings, I have had the privilege to work with. She is brilliant, kind, hard-working, and highly effective. Working with Amira is an uplifting and energizing experience. What stands out most to me regarding Amira is that across the multifaceted and diverse work projects she has conducted with WeBeWell, her contributions have all been outstanding!

Whether leading psycho-education well-being programs, facilitating impactful and thought-provoking DEI trainings, developing and implementing curriculum, conducting research and development, or training and overseeing our group facilitation staff, Amira exemplifies excellence in everything she does. Her incredible abilities to produce, teach, and learn have made our entire organization better.

Amira has gone above and beyond to support our student facilitators and researchers, and her caring, supportive, and positive attitude has benefitted us all. Amira has all the qualities you could hope for in a colleague, and I recommend her with the utmost confidence and highest regard.”

Research

As a PhD Candidate, I have loved engaging in research across stages of development. From idea generation to grant writing to publication - you name it!

Not only do I support research practices, but I also focus on the researchers. I believe tending to those conducting the research is just as important as tending to the participants. A cohesive team is crucial for engaging in trauma and multicultural research.

Examples of areas I can support your team with:

  • How to apply trauma-informed practices to your research team

  • How to conduct research in an inclusive way

  • How to connect with diverse populations in culturally sensitive ways

  • How to engage in reflexive practices to ensure ethical research

  • and more!

My doctoral training and poetic leanings also have bolstered my writing abilities. In addition to academic manuscripts and book chapters, I have written web content for mental health and survivor focused organizations. Reach out to see how I can contribute to your organization’s writing projects!
